New beginning ~ back to school

It is easy to make friends with anyone when you smile

It is the end of the summer holidays and you will be back in the classroom.   What is great about this?  Well, some of you will be thinking crap and I hate school!  Other will think great, chance to get back to learning and meet up with my friends.  I know many of you have been bored during the summer holidays so to get back to learning is a good thing.  If you are joining a new school, this might pose a few different thoughts in your head.  What if the school is rubbish?  What if I don’t make any new friends?  What if people hate me or don’t like my dress style?  What if i can’t do the work?

So many questions may be going through your head.  New schools can be both exciting and scary at the same time.  Okay if you are due to start a new school, then you can be sure hundreds of other people will be starting at the same time as you!  See you aren’t the only one.  So how can you make the day go well and avoid being bullied.

  • Relax and see it as fun
  • Look confident even though you aren’t (head up and look people in the eye)
  • Smile at people
  • Ask the person next to you if they had a good summer holiday
  • Ask questions such as ‘where do you live’, ‘what do you think of our new school so far’, ‘what phone do you have’ ‘what is your favourite subject’, what do you do at the weekends.

There really is lots of questions you can start asking, by showing interest in someone else, you are more likely to be friends, don’t just hang out and sulk against the wall during the break.  Smile and go over to people and chat to them.  If you get a rude reply just smile walk away and find someone who looks like they need a friend.

Bullies pick on those that look sad and alone, those that hang their head in shame so do be confident.  Once you have sparked a few conversations, you will gradually make friends (these friends can be for life).

Please do listen to the teachers on the first day, otherwise you will get confused.  You will need to know how to get about the school, the school policies, where you can go for help, where your lessons are being held, what equipment you might need to bring in this week.

Try not to show off too much with any designer clothes, phones, shoes, bags etc.  Don’t say your dad is very rich or even you are very poor, these things don’t matter.  To show off invites other people not to like you.  Just be friendly and be yourself and before you know it the bell will have gone and you will wonder why you were worried.

School can be fun if you allow yourself to learn, play, smile, be friendly to others and listen.  You won’t even know what talents you have until you try.  Good luck and do enjoy xxxxx

  1. Cool Article! My spouse and i had been simply just debating that there’s a whole lot absolutely wrong details at this matter and also you precisely replaced the belief. Many thanks for a marvelous contribute.

  2. woot, thank you! I’ve finally came across a website where the owner knows what they’re talking about. You know how many results are in Google when I check.. too many! It’s so annoying having to go from page after page after page, wasting my day away with tons of owners just copying eachother’s articles… ugh. Anyway, thankyou for the information anyway, much appreciated.

  4. Why do we moms get up each day knowing that it will be cleaning, laundry, toys picked up, stop squabbling, cooking, cuddling, reading, baths, more laundry, stepping on lincoln logs, finding matchboxes in our shoes, late night fevers and it will go on and on and on day in and day out and why do we do it? Because we love and that’s all a mom can do.

    • That is well said ‘Sky’, it does seem such a chore sometimes being a Mum and often we get no thanks, just grunts! Eventually, kids blossom into loving, well adjusted young adults with the future ahead of them. Kids love their mums and we adore our kids but yes they do try out patience. Try taking some ‘me’ time out and reward yourself for all your hard work.
