Happy New Year 2023

The end of 2022 has come and for most it has been a very mixed year.  We have all been affected by covid, climate change and increasing inflation somehow, someway.

Our world is changing and in this ever changing world where sometimes ‘control’ is out of our hands, we have to look for ‘stability’ in our lives.

Modern life can be hectic and confusing.  Technology can be a beautiful thing but it brings it’s downfalls and dark side. And what a hassle remembering all our emails and codes to log in. Our subscription services need finely managing, forget to unsubscribe at the right time equals wasted money. Technology needs its own diary! If we can’t remember our passwords etc, it robs us of our ‘precious time’ as we spend more time setting up new ones. So the New Year is a good time to unsubscribe from companies you no longer use.

When the world around us seems too much, too busy, too complicated then that is when we need ‘real life’.  Simple is best – a walk in the park (no earphones) to listen to the birds and life happening around you.  Meet up with a friend you’ve not seen all year and just chat (no phones).  Bake some cookies for an elderly neighbour (good excuse to check in on them) so many people both young and old are ‘lonely’.  We live through our phones and forget that important ‘human interaction’.

A simple ‘touch’ or ‘hug’ can make us feel loved and cared for.  In a world that screams ‘me, me, me’ why not consider ‘what you can do for others, to make life a bit easier, a bit more kinder’.

Life is a struggle sometimes but there’s always a rainbow somewhere, it is looking for those little joys in our days that gets us through the tough times.  If you have the ability to change a life then do, whether it is a cup of coffee, a smile, a chat, offering to help those less able than you.  Knowing someone has your back is a little bit of ‘security’ in an ever-changing world.

I know I am very thankful at the end of the day for a comfy bed, hot food (not keen on cold food) and the interactions I encountered during the day, whether it was a kind store person or sharing a chat with friends or family.

Just because it is a ‘A New Year’ doesn’t mean a ‘New You’ please don’t pander to these notions, if you are quite happy with who you are.  Why re-invent the wheel?  Don’t feel under obligation to make any new year’s resolutions if it’s not for you.  What is important in 2023 is what is always fashionable – kindness.

So, moving into 2023, make time for ‘simple pleasures’ that connect you to the real world.  And show kindness to everyone you meet and most importantly ‘be kind’ to YOU.

Wishing you a kind, healthy and loving 2023.

Lots of love

Lana xx
